URG Training Conference Recap

“Winners Find a Way,” this year’s educational conference, brought winners from across the US, Canada and the world together in Orlando for, what we at URG believe, is the premier Auto Recycling Industry Educational Conference.

As I’ve said before, while recyclers may not be in a win or lose situation every day, having a winning attitude facilitates an enjoyable workplace that motivates employees, boosts morale and leads to opportunity for all. Every time a recycler instills pride in their organization, provides education for employees and strives to deliver the best quality products and services – we all WIN.

“Winning isn’t everything... it’s the only thing,” Vince Lombardi once said...

And it’s true – striving for success, both personal and in business, is imperitive. Therefore, we must reach out to leaders with proven track records to mentor us on we too can win in the world. All of the presenters at the 2018 Conference are winners in their own arenas, and attendees were inspired by their messages, insights and strategies. Our keynote speakers – Steve Siebold, Noah Rickun, Richard Flint and DJ Harrington – each in their own distinct way taught us to re-examine our businesses and refine our communication skills to meet the needs of this ever-changing industry –providing a road map to success in tomorrow’s business climate. A huge thank you to all of our presenters for their commitment to URG and our industry!

We are so grateful for our two Conference Co-Sponsors, Hollander and IAA, for their gracious support and involvement. We also want to recognize our Diamond Sponsors CCC and ETE Reman, along with all of our other sponsors and exhibitors, for helping make this conference a reality.

Once again, the National Auto Body Council (NABC) and Recycled Rides shared the wonderful experience of gifting a vehicle to a family in need. This heartwarming, joy-filled event was presided over by Bill Garoutte, President and CEO of NABC. Thank you NABC for the experience, and Team PRP and Phillip Riffle of Allpro Auto Parts Inc. for locating and providing the recycled parts for this important project.

We extend a special thanks to all of our Conference attendees. The URG conference is not just for URG Members, but is open to ALL automotive recyclers across the US, Canada and worldwide and we appreciate those of you who traveled great distances to join us and add your global perspective on our industry. We ask you all to please take the time to complete the conference surveys on the URG Conference mobile app and help us make next year’s URG Conference even better!

Finally, I would like to recognize the URG Board of Directors, the URG staff and volunteers for all of the hard work put in preparing and throughout the conference. Without them the conference would not have been such a great success!

We would also like to note that his year’s annual URG Scholarship Golf Tournament and Charity Auction raised over $35,000! This money will continue to be used to award scholarships to auto recycler’s employees their children. Nine scholarships totaling $19,500 were awarded this year!

Planning for 2019 is underway! Save the dates April 11-13, 2019 and join us once again, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!

Best wishes for a WINNING 2018!
